與「run」連用的實用片語

動詞「run」除了常用來表達「奔跑」，也常與其他單字一起組成很實用的片語，今天就來介紹其中一個「run for」，用來比喻人們要像動物為生存而爭奪食物一樣，為達成理想而努力追求上進。
＊run 的動詞三態為 run-ran-run。
● run for (phr.) 爭奪
The wolves run for food together in the forest.
狼群在森林裡一起爭奪食物。
● run from (phr.) 逃離；躲避
Lots of people move to other countries to run from wars.
許多人為了逃避戰爭而搬遷到其他國家。
● run through sth (phr.) 迅速說明或查看
I quickly ran through my homework before handing it in to the teacher.
我迅速地把作業檢查一遍後交給老師。
● run wild (phr.) 無拘無束；任其發展
At the end of gym class, I just let the kids play with the toys and run wild.
體育課快下課時，我索性讓小孩們玩玩具跟自由活動。
● run out of sth (phr.) 用完…；耗盡…
Please buy some eggs today—we ran out of them yesterday when I was making lunch.
