在「有限的範圍」內用來列舉兩者，如下圖已經明確表達有兩種圖形，一個是圓形，而剩下的、也是僅存的另一個則用the other來表達。

There are only two people at the bus stop. One is an old man; the other is a police officer.

公車站只有兩個人。其中一個是一位老人，另一個則是一位警察。

在「沒有限定的範圍」內隨意列舉出，如下圖有多種圖形，其中的一個是圓形，而剩餘的當中有一個是三角形，在此情況下其實還有其他沒列舉出的形狀！
