舉例的英文

說到「舉例」的英文，大家最熟知的可能是「for example」，今天再多多分享幾個常見的舉例片語和詞彙，給大家比較比較用法：

① such as + N(P) 像是、比如說

常置於句中，可與 like 相互替換。

用 such as 列舉一連串的例子時，such as 前方習慣加上一個逗號；但若只有一個例子，則前方不需要加上逗號。

There are many ways to help Earth, such as reusing items and planting trees.

有很多方式可以幫助地球，比如重複使用物品以及種植樹木。

This store sells some great music such as records from Taiwanese rock bands.

這間店有販售一些很棒的音樂，例如臺灣搖滾樂團的唱片。

Tom only likes hot drinks such as hot coffee or tea.

Tom 只喜歡熱飲，例如熱咖啡或熱茶。

like 也可以用來舉例，但是較不正式，正式書寫時還是傾向用 such as。

另外要注意，我們會用 like 來舉「帶有比較意味」的例子，而不是用 such as，請見以下例句：

(O) This restaurant serves dishes like the ones Grandma used to cook.

(X) This restaurant serves dishes such as the ones Grandma used to cook.

這家餐廳供應像是我奶奶以前會做的菜的餐點。

Let's do something fun, like riding our bikes along the river.

我們做些有趣的事情吧，像是沿著河流騎腳踏車。

可置於句首、句中或句尾，如：

For example / For instance, …

…, for example / for instance, …

…, for example / for instance.

We should go outside. For example, we could have a picnic in the park.

我們應該外出，舉例來說，我們可以去公園野餐。

There are many different ways to cook an egg. For example, some people fry them.

烹調雞蛋的方式有很多種，例如有些人會炒蛋。

There are many things to spend your red envelope money on. You could use it to buy new clothes, for example.

你可以把紅包錢花在很多地方，舉例來說，你可以用它來買新衣服。

Some people don't need to study to do well on their exams. Take Eddie for example. He always gets good scores without trying.

有些人不需要讀書就可以考好成績。以艾迪為例，他總是輕鬆就能得高分。
