「as the story goes」講的不是故事，而是「傳聞」

「story故事📖」有時可真可假，因此這個單字也常用來指「傳聞」，而英文片語「as the story goes」意思就是「據說；據傳」：
例句：
This painting has an interesting history. As the story goes, it was created in a prison camp.
