「pave」不只是「鋪平道路」，也能表達「為某事做鋪陳」

我們常在路邊看到的「柏油鋪路」，英文可以用單字「pave」表示，而中文也常說「為某事鋪路」來比喻為了做某件事情前的準備，英文片語則是👉「pave the way for sth」：
例句：
The work of US scientists in the 1970s paved the way for the rise of the Internet several decades later.
美國科學家於1970年代期間的貢獻為幾十年後網路的崛起鋪了路。
