英文單字 react、respond 都是「反應」，差別在哪裡？
對某事產生「反應；回應」，英文可以用 react 或 respond 表達，但兩者有些微妙的不同，前者比較直覺，後者經過思考，以下例句：
★ react (v.) / reaction (n.)
偏下意識的「反應」，較沒有多做思考，是因為前面發生的動作而產生的下意識動作。
⌞ react to sth/sb (phr.) 對…反應
I hope you don't react badly to this news, but we're closing down the company.
我希望你不要對這消息反應激烈，但我們要收掉公司了。
People reacted to the unfair new law by complaining on social media.
人們對於這條新立的不公平法案的反應是透過社群媒體表達不滿。
Harold yawned, and it set off a chain reaction of everyone yawning.
哈羅德打了個哈欠，這引起了所有人打哈欠的連鎖反應。
The fire in the factory started with a large chemical reaction.

★ respond (v.) 是有經過思考而做出的「反應」，通常會比較冷靜或貼心。
⌞ respond to sb/sth (phr.) 對…做出反應
The police responded to the 110 call by sending officers to the scene of the car accident.
