英文比較級的進階用法－「more and more…越來越…」
今天要教大家比較級的進階用法「比較級 + and + 比較級」，用來表達「漸漸地…；越來越…」，例如：事情的發展會越來越好，可以用better and better表示；工作量增加，需要越來越努力harder and harder…以此類推，看以下用法：
①「比較級 + and + 比較級」的句型常與進行式或連綴動詞 get 及 become 連用，意指「愈來愈…；漸漸地…」。
The water got deeper and deeper as James sailed his boat away from the shore.
隨著詹姆士將船駛離岸邊，水域也跟著越來越深。
The ride went slower and slower until it finally stopped.
遊樂設施越轉越慢，直到最後終於停下來。
Everyone had to work harder and harder to get the work done on time.
每個人都得要愈來愈努力工作才能把工作準時完成。
② more and more / less and less 則使用於三音節以上的比較級。
The teacher's lack of passion makes learning less and less appealing.
這位老師缺乏熱情的態度讓學習變得越來越沒意思。
Seeing people on their phone all day is more and more common.
大家整天使用手機的情況越來越常見。
I think Jerry is sick. He's eating less and less every day. I'll take him to the doctor.
我覺得傑瑞生病了，他每天吃得愈來愈少，我會帶他去看醫生。
