「since」用法教你懂－可以表達時間、也能表達原因的英文單字

今天要來介紹單字『since』，作為從屬連接詞，用來連接主要子句跟從屬子句，有下列兩種用法與意思：
❶ 表時間：當「自從…以來」，其主要子句常用「完成式」的時態

Charlie's English has improved a lot since he moved to the US.
自從搬去美國之後，查理的英文進步了很多。
Since Ophelia started living on her own, she has become a lot more independent.
自從奧菲莉亞開始自己住之後，她變得更加獨立了。
❷ 表原因：當「由於；既然」，意思用法近似於because或as
Since we are late for the movie, let's take a taxi to the theater.
既然我們看電影都已經遲到了，那就搭計程車去電影院吧。
Mable was sleepy in class all day since she went to bed late the previous night.
梅布爾一整天在學校都很睏，因為她前一晚太晚睡了。
