￭ Native English Speaker

Must have fluent command of English. If English is your second language, it should be just as fluent and clear as your first language. Remember, you are applying for a position to teach teenagers. The market in Taiwan prefers the American phonetic system. However, don't panic if you are not American. If you are willing to sound a bit 'American' while teaching vocabulary, you'll do fine. At the end of the day, attitude and effort still count the most.

￭ Hold a passport from a native-English-speaking country

Only the following countries are recognized by the Taiwanese Bureau of Education as English-speaking countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, The United Kingdom, and The United States.

￭ Minimum Education Requirements

Teachers must have one or more of the following qualifications to meet the Taiwanese Bureau of Education's minimum educational requirements:
* A Bachelor's degree in any discipline OR
* An Associate's degree with a TEFL / TESOL Certificate.
The applicants that do not meet the above academic requirements must submit proof of course work from their schools that can consider being equivalent to these requirements. (The Bureau of Education only recognizes as English-speaking countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, The United Kingdom, and The United States).

￭ At least 1-year experience of teaching teenagers in Taiwan or one of the EFL countries.

￭ Prepare teaching materials in the form of handouts, events, and any other ways to evaluate the learning results of the students.

￭ Prepare for live performances such as summer camp, freshmen welcome party, and the annual X’mas show.
